I am looking to get better at telling stories so that I can engage my customers in a more intimate way. I always seem to forget stories that I hear so when I want to use them to sell, I can't.

I was discussing the effectiveness of Super Bowl advertising with my wife, who happens to be an ad company exec. My thought is that the ads are very entertaining (at least the good ones), but very rarely do they make me want to take any sort of action, like buying the product or service that's being pitched. Money well spent?

The ETrade baby ads are simple, fast, humorous little stories that establish that
the product is "so simple, that even a baby can do it." They are a tiny glimpse into 21st
century stock trading.

EDS did a brilliant ad showing some Texan cowboys herding cats; it was a brilliant metaphor for delivering complex IT projects across global organisations. Sadly in the end it was just such projects that lead to their eventual financial distress and acquisition by HP
